Kennels
Boarding dogs are kept in 10'x10' chain link kennels that border around large "common areas" that dogs are rotated through during the day.
We believe one of the keys to having a happy, healthy kennel is for all dogs to have a lot of exercise & play time - dogs are sometimes paired up with other dogs that have similar personalities & energy levels. All dogs are rotated through these large "common areas" throughout the day.

Dogs are kept in their individual 10'x10' kennels at night.
Dogs are housed on crushed rock, which allows for easy cleaning and dry kennel areas.
We have a small, recreational sled dog team at Smiling Igloo. We also have the capacity to board an additional team. Dogs are kept in a fenced pen, on a stake-out system. Please email us if you are interested in housing your dog team in our sled dog yard.
Water
During the summer months the dogs have fresh, clean water available to them in galvanized steel buckets at all times.
As Smiling Igloo is an active sled dog kennel, during the winter months dogs are offered a "soupy" broth to keep caloric and hydration at optimum levels.
Exercise
Our pens are large and boarding dogs receive lots of exercise throughout the days playing with other dogs. Our customers often tell us how tired their dogs are when they bring them home - as we say, a tired dog is a happy dog (and a happy owner too)!

Additionally, for a small fee, we will walk your dog - on-leash or off-leash walks are offered. Walks are minimum 45 minutes in duration. In the summer months, if your dog likes the water, we can take your dog swimming. In the winter months, we also offer kick sledding for your dog. This is a great winter activity for any dog with lots of energy, especially those who like to pull! Check out our photo section for photos of our boarding dogs kick sledding!
